As a Director of College Counseling in multiple schools, I have overseen this important process for nearly a thousand students taking both AP and IB curricula. My experience spans the globe, as I have counseled and advised students at Hunter College High School (NYC), Léman Manhattan Preparatory School (NYC), Shanghai American School (China), and Yokohama International School (Japan). Other organizations I have worked with include MaiaLearning, InitialView, and the College Essay Guy.I specialize in both US college admissions and global university admissions. I have visited over 100 college campuses in the United States, speaking with admissions committee members about their decision-making processes and what makes a student truly stand out in an application. I have also visited over 30 universities in the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, China, and Singapore. My expertise encompasses all aspects of the college search and application process, from helping students to choose courses and extracurricular activities to building college lists and writing powerful essays. I have been a regular speaker and presenter at college admission conferences in the US, Europe, and Asia. At the heart of my approach is developing a deep understanding of each student’s unique interests, abilities, and values. I encourage students to identify and leverage their strengths so that they can engage in meaningful learning experiences and share powerful stories. When students develop strong interpersonal and self-advocacy skills, they are capable of taking on challenges that help them to grow. Yokohama International School's focus on a strong sense of community enabled the counseling team to be an integral part of school life. YIS's comprehensive counseling program fosters a belief in students that they are capable of positive change and growth and supports students in living a life of purpose, connection, and joy. As a leader of the school-wide counseling team, responsibilities included facilitating the redesign of our entire counseling scope and sequence, enabling us to align our curriculum with international and global standards and best practices. With an approach based in positive psychology, mindfulness, and anchored within the International Baccalaureate's framework, all students receive support enabling them to identify and reach their academic, personal, and well-being goals.

During my time at Shanghai American School, we completely re-imagined our counseling and support services for the high school. Our goal of serving student and family needs in a way that best served our school culture and community led to distinctive counseling roles focusing on student mental health and well-being and college/university counseling. While at SAS I was also the K-12 Counseling Team Coordinator, leading a team of a dozen counselors in designing dynamic counseling and student support programs.

It was a pleasure to be a part of the team that founded the College Counseling program at Leman Manhattan, as well as the team that launched the International Baccalaureate program. In this role, I supported and guided students and families in all aspects of the college search and application process including college research and selection, essay writing, application management, scholarship applications, and financial aid. I also provide academic advising to day and international boarding students in IB Diploma courses, AP courses, and standard and honors level high school courses.As the first Director of College Counseling at Leman Manhattan, I developed and implemented a college counseling curriculum delivered via seminar, small group, individual, and family meetings. The focus was on supporting students develop multiple facets of their intellectual and personal lives. In order to make sure that students received consideration from their first choice schools, I maximized my pre-existing relationships with college admission officers, and developed new ones in order to keep them informed about the high quality scholarship at Leman Manhattan Preparatory School. I am proud that Leman Manhattan's first ever graduating class gained acceptance into highly selective colleges in the US and abroad, including the University of Pennsylvania, Duke, New York University, Parsons, Oberlin College, Syracuse University, Bryn Mawr, Tulane, Middlebury College, Waseda University, University College London, and more.

Counseling at Hunter was a unique experience that enabled me to support a dynamic and diverse group of learners as they reached for their dreams. As a member of the counseling team, I developed and implemented a robust college counseling curriculum covering topics such as researching colleges, standardized testing, academic planning, essay writing, financial aid, summer opportunities, and application management. I also created interactive presentations and programs for parents and school community members including managing an annual college fair with over 150 colleges in attendance.While at Hunter I led a project to improve communication with all stakeholders, including students, parents, administrators, and faculty members to maximize their support of students in the college application process. I also developed lasting professional relationships with hundreds of college admissions committee members and other professionals in college admissions.
