I worked fulltime and then halftime in a Chairman type role focusing on working with the team to further fuel the momentum of TreeHugger.com and PlanetGreen.com. I was a host or guest on various programs on the Planet Green channel which reached 58,000,000 homes.TreeHugger and PlanetGreen sites reach close to 5M unique visitors and 10-15M pageviews per month making them top visited environmental sites. TreeHugger has been one of the top 20 most linked to blogs on the web.

Conceptualized, funded, started, ran and sold TreeHugger.com to Discovery.TreeHugger is still going strong 17 years and billions of page-views later under the IAC/Dot Dash umbrella. One of the earliest blogs, in 2004 its approach was somewhat revolutionary (positive, design forward, pro-business, bi-partisan and prolific). We were very aggressive and well-liked so we quickly became the most-visited green website on the planet and held that title for a number of years as the world caught up. Our mission was to "take green mainstream" and I believe we helped do that by building awareness and inspiring millions about the bright green future that we were heading towards.

After Bowne acquired Sitewerks, I co-general-managed the Seattle office for about a year, then ran the Boston office for 4 months before replacing myself and moving to the New York office to run the cross-office Information Architecture group.

Sitewerks was started mid-1995 by myself and my cousin Tish Hill. It was pre-Netscape browser and very early in terms of the graphical web. We landed a key Microsoft contract, did great work and were able to build the company from 2 to 60 people over the ensuing 3 years on cashflow. Sitewerks was an award-winning, full service web-shop with skills in design, project management and programming. It was sold to Bowne Inc. in February 1998 after discussions with circa 15 companies.
