This includes our multi-award winning Slim My Waste - Feed My Face food waste reduction campaign, the Bristol #WasteNothing Challenge and the launch of our reuse arm. Several 'Bristol Clean Streets' initiatives also required my attention where I worked closely with Bristol City Council’s communications team to produce effective social content for the Litter Critters and Litter Superheroes campaigns as well as four city-wide litter picking events.I revolutionized the way that Bristol Waste communicates internally by introducing a staff e-newsletter that keeps office-based staff informed with timely alerts and news. Having written almost 250 staff alerts, I am proud to have maintained an average open rate of 46%, well above the 15% industry average.Finally, I put a high importance on ensuring the team captures as many measurables as possible for effective reporting. In lieu of a formal monitoring system, I introduced an annual media monitoring tracker to illustrate hundreds of pieces of annual coverage, their sentiment and impressions. A Communications Planner was also developed to ensure effecting team planning throughout the year, and I became the main contributor for both dates, events and monthly planned tasks.Working in the communications team at Bristol Waste was an exceptional experience and presented me with a multitude of opportunities in building upon my media relations and spokesperson experience, graphic design skills and tackling internal communications in a unique environment.
