I am Himanshu Kumar an enthusiastic (Para - Athlete). I was born & brought up in Agra then I moved to Delhi with my family in 2003 and continued my education until 2008. A road accident on 8th June 2008 resulted in the amputation of my left leg above the knee. After one year of treatment and rehabilitation I learned to walk with an artificial leg, and since 2011, I have taken up two long distance sports completing four half marathons over the period 2011-18 and long distance cycling and I have also participated in multiple format event’s.ACHIEVEMENTSOn 28 September 2014 , I completed my ‘GRITATHLON’, a grueling 21‐day road run from Agra to my home in Delhi. Grueling because, then aged 21 years, I finished the 225 km distance on a blade leg. I run was challenging would be an understatement. I ran an average of 12‐15 kilometers for 2 and a half to three hours daily, with a piece of prosthetic equipment I had started to use barely a year before. To beat the hinterland heat, I would begin my daily runs as early as 2:30‐3 am, braving the rough and incessant highway traffic. I was accompanied by my one‐man crew, brother, coach and mentor Manish Kumar, who accompanied me in a car. Never mind chafing, the daily impact of the blade left his amputee leg me with several injuries, though fortunately I subsequently recovered.On 14 February 2016, I completed my 'INLAND CYCLOTHON' an equally grueling challenge – a 1500 km, 15 days ride from Mumbai to New Delhi. Again the ride was extremely tough. I rode an average of 100-115 km or three to four hours daily using a conventional road bike.
