Having spent many years enforcing health & safety/food safety legislation, which was very interesting and rewarding, I realised that my real passion lay in working with companies to develop practical solutions to their safety challenges. By moving away from the traditional approach to managing health & safety, food safety and environmental as separate disciplines, I found that it is much more productive to develop risk management systems across the board. This approach lends itself well in delivering services to the insurance sector and to ISO standards. Since 2000, we have worked with hundreds of clients from diverse sectors from construction, manufacturing, logistics, retail, hospitality and the public sector including the NHS, schools and care homes. Our aim is to keep people safe and to help organisations to succeed. We have demonstrated that it's possible for businesses to thrive while keeping their employees and customers safe. We know that effective risk management leads to fewer injuries and ill-health, which means fewer claims and lower insurance premiums. As an expert witness I am regularly instructed by lawyers with respect to criminal and civil matters in health and safety/food safety cases. I particularly enjoy this work as it brings together my knowledge of the law and its practical application. A significant part of my role is to continue growing Sentinel whether this is in expanding our retainer client base, diversifying our services and products offered including SafetyBox, our bespoke Health & Safety Software (www.safetybox.io)
