About Hini Hanara

After completing a degree in Fashion Design and Technology I worked in the rag trade for 15 years from graphic design, off shore manufacturing, textile retail and research. (2003-2018)Whilst managing my own fashion graphic design business I was also able to gain experience in costume design with Underground Cinema and indie film and plays, which fuelled my love of events. I started a regular life drawing event "Covert Characters" in 2015 and grew a solid community of artists and followers. In 2016 I was approached to manage a boutique high tea venue and produce in house events. This gave me valuable experience in staff and small business management. My design skills were put to use in re-branding logo, packaging, web and merchandising design. We were able to survive lockdown and have grown it's following to create its solid word of mouth accounting for 70% of business. Today I have just turned a corner towards end of life services and funerals with a special interest in increasing LGBTIQA+ visibility in the market.

From humble beginnings I started hosting and promoting classes for my fellow graphic designers at a shared studio space in our tiny board room. I enjoyed hosting so much I moved the classes to Work-shop who took care of tickets and marketing and started to grow a following. After 3.5 years at Work-shop I tool a bold step to take the events 'on the road' and started hosting the events in unique spaces around Melbourne with uniquely fitting talent such as: -Clams water ballerinas at Melbourne City Baths-Neon life drawing at Melba Spiegletent-Sweeny Todd life drawing at Mission to the Sea Farers-Shibari life drawing and Mamor High Tea Salon -Malibu Stacy's Pool Party at Rose Chong's Rooftop Spa. During this time I was invited to host classes at the Melbourne New art fair 2017, Consent festival at Spiegletent 2019 and hosted a number of independently run Hens/Bucks and Queer wedding party classes. Due to increasing demand of Managing at Mamor I took a break from the events after 2019. I still accept and facilitate private bookings but do not actively promote my services.
