Tasked with upgrading the company's technology infrastructure, my work deals with all levels of decision making from evaluating candidates and tools to setting coding standards.On the front end I deal with many areas of web development from html/css styling to TLS certificate generation for our MERN based website. I also increased the stability of the website by implementing a test driven development approach as I rebuilt it for modern React.On the back-end I found many opportunities for automation where I used tools like Airflow and Python to schedule and program a number of previously manual processes saving 2-4 hours each week.This role has also provided opportunities to build new features, like creating presigned URLs for customers to upload their DNA file directly from their browser to our s3 instance - skipping our web server and avoiding a considerable amount of account charges on just moving these large files around.Building a scalable and easily maintained system has been a key achievement.

Working front-end to back-end in building end-user applications and managing data pipelines; collaborate with aligned data science teams to provide insights to heads of business & improved product experience for our clients.From building ETL pipelines with tools like Airflow and Spark to real-time Python services, about half of the work we do is back-end. For our front-end dashboards and applications, we use Qliksense and JavaScript/TypeScript to build flexible UI's.

As the first workflow specialist under the Bloomberg Product Oversight team, I helped (alongside some amazing colleagues) form the role and global sub-team into a powerful, knowledgeable group that contributed valuable insight to senior management, shaping the future of our Desktop API product. I would take longer-than-average calls with clients to understand their workflows thoroughly and aim to provide the most accurate and lasting guidance to help them avoid future issues with leveraging Bloomberg data in their analysis. I also focused on learning our new API, called BQL, and identified the most clients (more than double peer average) who can leverage this new API to resolve their data issues. After gaining experience in successfully identifying those clients, I provided additional training to my global peers, leading to a 100% increase in their rate of clients successfully identified in the months before vs after the training.

My focus in this department was on learning less-common skills and becoming the go-to person for these products (Charts, Programmatic APIs, News, and RMS) on top of becoming a broadly skilled specialist in equities, equity derivatives, commodities, and FX.I also worked as the Assistant Team Leader (ATL) for the Research Management Solutions (RMS) team where I focused on skilling up my teammates on our new product coverage and helping those seeking less traditional career paths research and plan their next steps and connect them with contacts in other departments who can help them better understand their opportunities there.As my team's ATL I was able to leverage my skills with our Desktop API and RMS products to build a unique tool for my team that simultaneously allowed us to better track our performance towards new department initiatives (e.g. in-depth client trainings) with greater detail and less subjectivity while also teaching and reinforcing my teammates knowledge of creative ways to leverage our RMS suite of products, so they could better guide our clients on leveraging our tools in creative ways to meet their own custom needs.
