I am a Presidential Medalist; I received the Presidential Diamond Jubilee Medal from His Excellency, the President of Uganda. Awarded FinTech CEO of the Year 2024 for the Middle East and Africa 2024 by Wealth and Finance International, CEO of the Year 2021-2022 by the TIG Network Afrika.I am a Ugandan computer programmer, FinTech and financial inclusion specialist, Internet entrepreneur, film producer, philanthropist and entertainment executive. I am the co-founder of HiPipo, a digital innovation, FinTech and financial inclusion organisation, and I have been its CEO for the past decade. HiPipo is largely acknowledged as playing a major role in the advocacy and promotion of financial technology (FinTech), secure digital financial services and financial inclusion for low income users in Africa while helping to expose new and emerging companies to the tools available to reach low income users and so extend access to innovative financial services.I am visible advocate for digital innovation, #FinTech and #FinancialInclusion.On 29th September 2020 I was officially nominated as a candidate for the post of Lord Mayor Kampala City; the capital of Uganda, marking my official foray into politics. Between 2009 and 2013, I co-conceptualized and co-developed mHealth (MyDoctor) and e-Learning (AfroExaminer.com) projects that received international recognition from IndiAfrica, Orange Africa Challenge and ITU innovation excellence.I have attended various Digital Financial Services (DFS)-related, leadership, project management workshops & convening organized by MTN Group, Mojaloop Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.I have spearheaded the launch of great brands and projects in Africa including HiPipo Music Awards; the fastest growing awards brand committed to celebrating, honoring, and sustaining African music's past, present, and future and Include Everyone program; a collection of related financial inclusion outreach projects including hackathon, expo, summit, Digital Impact Awards Africa and research. The primary objective is to flag, advocate for and shine a light on impactful and transformative directions in the financial inclusion arena.HiPipo helps in scaling Digital Financial Services in Africa through, advising financial inclusion stakeholders such as regulators, operators, MFIs, banks, Saccos and FinTechs, researching and publishing DFS reports, organizing awareness events for stakeholders and creating awareness content. Our advocacy is as such more inclined to educating and sensitizing stakeholders and customers.Our projects enable the convergence of FinTech operators, Mobile Network Operators, banks, regulators, supervisors, women leaders in finance and Financial Inclusion, plus players across both client and donor jurisdictions. Alongside them are other sector players from both the public and private space, and also academia, all who share their experiences and views in order to deepen understanding in key FinTech and DFS areas.
