Accessing services for addictions/mental health can be challenging due to system fragmentation, systemic barriers, and socioeconomic biases. The Indigenous Mental Health and Addictions System Navigator Program advocates for you and combines traditional and mainstream programs and services to help improve Indigenous health outcomes and reduce family violence in Indigenous families.

Student placement allows me to apply practice Indigenous based social work. I am blessed to be learning within the Mental Health and Wellness Program. Community Justice Programs and much much more.

As a Peer tutor, I supported fellow students by providing instructional strategies to help them learn and grow their understanding of various subjects or concepts. By helping learn new material I needed to model critical thinking, problem-solving strategies and grow my communication skills. Communication was developed through providing new perspectives, clarifying points of confusion, and developing study strategies for upcoming exams.

International Student Support provides support, programming and orientation to both international degree-seeking students and short term exchange students who choose to study at Nipissing University. Whether the students are here for an exchange, or to obtain your degree, our goal is to ensure they feel like they belong through a variety of intercultural experiences. Offering language programs, volunteer programs, and on-campus engagement opportunities, and overseen the international mentor training and mentorship relationships.

Support further development of the indigenous engagement plan for PDPC by developing contacts with indigenous vendors, friendship centers, and communities. Also provide indigenous perspective and research to support indigenous procurement activities.

Tutoring and program support for Biidaaban Youth Group and Biidaaban Academic Support programs.

As a crisis Resource Counselor, I gained various experiences such as conducting admission interviews, risk assessments, and providing crisis support and counselling services. Additionally, as front-line workers we advocated for the women with other community agencies, maintained case management files and followed up on transitional support plans. Our objective was to provide physical safety for all residents at the shelter.
