Engineering Manager, Design System
Current- Managed a team of 6 engineers with varying levels of experience, collaborating closely with design and product management teams, and leading the cross-functional design system leadership group during critical planning and roadmapping periods- Successfully hired 3 engineers, including a tech lead and two individual contributors, while navigating 4 internal transfers and managing performance challenges- Facilitated the promotion of 4 engineers, including moving one off a legacy career ladder, enabling its retirement and deeper integration of Asana.com engineers with the R&D organization- Advocated for closer cross-functional collaboration between designers and engineers, treating the design system and frameworks as internal products focused on outcomes for internal teams to ultimately serve end-users better- Established lightweight, iterative, and cross-functional planning & execution processes, keeping the team coordinated, autonomous, and organized with minimal meetings. Also temporarily managed 4 engineers responsible for pre-signup flows on Asana.com- Achieved high design system satisfaction rates of 87-92% among engineers, increased designer satisfaction from 62% to 87% through Figma-to-code parity investments, and enabled VPAT compliance for key customers through accessibility remediation efforts
