I work in a similar capacity to that of a Project Manager in private industry. I am responsible for all the personnel and administrative items that it takes to run a Company of reserve Infantry Marines, including training, budget, pay, promotions, retention, discipline, awards, performance reviews and ratings, supply and logistics, planning, scheduling, and coordination with higher leadership and outside agencies. I work with a core staff of eight other active duty military personnel to ensure the training and readiness goals for the reserve Company are met and accomplished. The reserve Marines of the Company are spread over four states, requiring multiple levels of communication and coordination to ensure everyone has the correct information as they arrive for drills or annual training periods throughout the course of the year.

The Marines in Thurmont are responsible for the security of the Presidential Retreat at Camp David. During my time there I was in charge of directing the training of the Marines of the Company to ensure proficiency in security procedures, as well as marksmanship and infantry tactics and skills. In conjunction with this I maintained the overall supply program for the Company as well as providing input and direction for purchasing and disposition of new and obsolete equipment.
