Lead I&C Engineer
I have been leading a team of highly skilled I&C engineers and designers to execute design, engineering & procurements of ITER Vacuum Auxiliary Systems (VAS) I&C system. I have also been performing as Control Account Manager (CAM) to provide project planning, budget estimation, risk management, team planning, interface management and techno-commercial strategic decisions for VAS-I&C. I am responsible for project execution within schedule & budget as well as participate in Independent Project Reviews (IPR) from DOE. Following are my technical responsibilities - Oversee and provide expertise for preparation of I&C engineering documents like P&IDs, Cable Diagrams, Instrument schedule, instrument hookup, installation drawing, I&C equipment layout, Control Description, Signal list, PLC system architecture, PLC hardware configuration, Control Cubicle Wiring etc.- Plan and conduct I&C design reviews with customer (ITER-IO) and panel of experts. Ensure timely close-out of the design review chits to enable initiation of procurements. - Oversee and provide expertise in procurement preparation, solicitation, bid evaluation and contract execution. - Responsible for Nuclear Radiation and Static Magnetic Field Hardness assurance for I&C devices. Work with experts, define strategies for risk mitigate, prepare, and execute qualification tests.- Oversee development and testing of Radiation Hard custom electronics for signal conditioning.
Instrumentation And Control Engineer
I have been deputed by my Parent organisation, ITER-India to ITER Organisation, France to support ongoing Design, Construction and Commissioning activities of the ITER Cooling Water System. I am responsible to produce I&C design documents for Safety Important cooling water loops for the final design review. This involves designing of magnetic field & radiation compatible pneumatic circuit solution for valve actuator. I am responsible to carry-out construction engineering, support & endorse on-site adjustments and ensure technical acceptability of installation for field instruments, cabling & control cubicles. I am responsible to provide technical expertise for commissioning of field instruments, signal loops and control system. I am involved in the procurement activities of field instruments and control cubicles like preparation of technical specification, supporting of frame work contracts, technical discussion with suppliers, inspection, logistic support etc.
Lead I&C Engineer, Cooling Water System
As Lead I&C Engineer, I was responsible for design input, interface control, change control, design development, verification & validation, design review, contract specification, co-ordination, vendor qualification, factory acceptance testing etc. for the Instrumentation & Control system for ITER Secondary Cooling Water System (~1200 MW Heat Rejection, ~5000 I/O system). 1. Review process & piping design documents like PFD, P&ID, 3D Modelling, Piping isometrics etc. to define functional and physical interface of I&C system. 2. Develop Functional Analysis & Requirement specification for I&C System.3. Analysis of instrumentation technology and choice of instruments.4. Develop/review I&C design deliverables like Control Logic, Instrument Schedule, Instrument Hookup & Installation Drawing, Signal List, Control System Architecture, Control Logic Diagrams, Relay Logic Diagrams, Cubicle GA, Cubicle Wiring, Cable Schedule, Cabling Diagrams, Loop Diagram, Junction-Box Schedule, I&C Equipment Layout, etc.5. Estimate Power requirement, Space requirement, and Compressed Air requirement for Interface control with utility providers.6. Support Tender & Contract activities, Development of Specification & Datasheets, Cost estimation, Vendor evaluation, Pre-bid Meetings, Study & analysis of the quotation etc.7. Development of Standardization Framework & Software Library to support Control System Application development.8. Prepare Factory Acceptance Test Procedures and participate in testing of Field Instruments, Cables and Control System.9. Participate in System Engineering activities like HAZOP and RAM analysis.10. Support Project Planning & Execution, Co-ordination with stack-holders & Progress Monitoring.
