Early success in the children's magazine design with publishers such as Topps (Topps Magazine) and Lucsafilm (Star Wars Galaxy Collector) led to assignments in children’s nonfiction trade and school/library markets. They wanted access not only to my expertise with Children's nonfiction, but also my wealth of experience in consumer magazine design for clients like Sports Illustrated. I got my start as an independent magazine designer. Covers, startups, and redesigns in the consumer and B2B sectors were followed by art direction of quarterly, custom content magazines for the Topps Company and Lucasfilm. At the same time, I began a long association with Sports Illustrated, producing special advertising inserts. Success with SI was followed by assignments from Fortune, Life, Money, Mutual Funds, Prevention, and Runner’s World. In more recent times, I returned to my roots and have been happily attracting and securing more magazine projects from clients like Asset International, Pace Law School, Rodale, and others.
