My name is William Gilbert and I am a computer science teacher at Eaton High School in Northwest ISD. In my 9 year tenure at Eaton, I taught everything from introduction to programming and algorithmic thinking to advanced Java and even mobile application development for Android and HTML5. My courses have included Java, Python, HTML5, and C++. My students leave my program with certifications through the Python Institute and formerly also completed the Microsoft Technology Associate Certifications before they were discontinued by Microsoft.I graduated Cum Laude from the University of North Texas in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with minors in Mathematics and Russian. My academic focus was application development and project management. I learned several programming languages including JAVA, C/C++, PHP, and Python. I am also familiar with HTML5 web development tools: HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as database software: Microsoft Access and mySQL.Prior to completing my degree at UNT, I served for 12 years in the United States Air Force as a Russian linguist. During that time I earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Russian from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and an Associate of Arts Degree in Information Technology from American Public University. I also speak Spanish and Chechen. While my career field was linguistics, my leadership chose me to fill a management role for our information technology support and logistics office. In this capacity I had the opportunity to learn other aspects of business such as cost center management, government purchasing, training management, facilities management, physical security, and information security.
