I'm in charge of education and research on radiation biophysics, radiation dosimetry for health risk assessment, radiological protection and nuclear emergency responses. Having particular interests in improving the radiological protection system based on the epidemiological data obtained from the analyses of Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb survivors, the people affected by the nuclear weapons testings, those by the large-scale nuclear accidents and the patients of various radiation therapies. Working for United Nations Scientific Committee (UNSCEAR) to follow up the assessment on the Fukushima Daiichi accident; for International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) to make recommendations on on environmental risk assessments; for International Standards Organization (ISO) to make standards on aviation dosimetry and also population monitoring.

I was involved in wide-range activities related to radiation impact assessment, dosimetry, protection, safety, etc. as an expert in the field of radiation research, aiming to solve globally serious problems with international organizations such as United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), International Standard Organization (ISO), European Union (EU), etc.

I fulfilled the mission of project management at the secretariat in Vienna of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR). My duties were to design, plan, organize, direct and coordinate a wide range of tasks relating scientific assessments on the effects of radioactive materials released to the environment from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station.

I was engaged in a wide-range research related to radioactive waster management, radiation safety and radiological protection and also in administration and governance for the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS), the Japanese government, several academic societies, non-profit organizations and committees of international bodies such as IAEA, ICRP, ISO and UNSCEAR. Also I have been in charge of the radiation dosimetry for aircraft crew in Japan from 2007. I worked in NASA Johnson Space Center at Houston, Texas, USA from 1999 to 2000 to conduct assessments on space radiation exposure of astronauts who would go to International Space Station.Just after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident in March 2011, I worked as a leading expert at the Nuclear Response Headquarter Office of the Japanese government in Fukushima Prefecture in Japan and then led a team with about 10 experts in NIRS to assess the initial-phase radiation exposure of Fukushima residents attributing to the accident.
