Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Responsible for the automation and support of the Quartz Infrastructure, a proprietary technical framework for running a cross-asset, front-to-back platform for pricing, analytics, trade capture, and risk management across Global Markets.At the heart of the infrastructure is a Linux farm of over 7000 servers hosting thousands of instances of a proprietary NoSql globally distributed object database, grid schedulers supporting hundreds of thousands of compute engines, a high-performance pub/sub messaging system, and a state-of-the-art batch scheduling system. Recognized as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the Quartz infrastructure focusing on the proprietary Sandra database, my daily activities include ensuring the health and availability of all databases, developing tools to minimize operational risk throughout the deployment lifecycle, functioning as second and third level support for major incidences and outages, and working closely with both the Linux engineering group and the database development team to optimize performance. Project work involves designing and implementing object oriented python scripts to manage, automate, and integrate the Quartz technical infrastructure. These tools cover a wide range of functionality from host based metrics collection and reporting to complex apps for syncing across environments. Management responsibilities include directing the activities of off-shore support personnel.

Designed, developed, and released software for the iOS platform.

Responsible for standardizing the configuration, delivery and deployment of low-latency, high-frequency distributed applications for the global Institutional Securities division of a top-tier, international investment bank. Formalized policies and procedures for application on-boarding geared toward guaranteeing effective risk management, operational efficiency, and ultimately complete cost transparency and reduction. Designed and developed tools to implement these policies and procedures establishing an automated application configuration, management, and deployment environment. The technical infrastructure comprised a farm of over 5000 RHEL blades, Sybase databases, Java applications, MQ Service Bus, and ruby, perl, bash, and python tools to streamline the development and deployment of enterprise-wide software products.
