I am a prostate cancer epidemiologist studying population and individual-level targets for "precision prevention" strategies that appropriately target prevention and early detection interventions to populations at risk. My work draws from medicine, social science, and statistics to inform public health policy. I am particularly interested in combining existing large administrative, registry, and environmental databases to identify environmental risk factors and test impacts of policies to reduce prostate cancer burden in vulnerable populations. Ongoing research includes multilevel studies examining associations between neighborhood environments and inflammation biomarkers, studies of prostate cancer disparities using historic registry data, and developing analytic approaches to evaluate equity and efficiency concerns in the geographic distribution of cancer and diagnostic services.I bring ten years of experience in quantitative data analysis and global health systems research and evaluation to my work. Three and a half of those years were spent living in sub-Saharan Africa, where I worked as a statistical consultant and data analyst to evaluate the impact of HIV control programs and primary health care systems. I also guided strategic use of monitoring and evaluation data for decision-making by executive non-profit leadership and government partners, managed cross-cultural teams, and mentored statistical analysts. This experience has profoundly shaped my views on equity-based health care programs and policies.Translation of research findings is important to me, and I have a strong record of disseminating results to peers and stakeholders through reports, presentations and journal articles. I am committed to developing research and analytic capacity in resource-limited settings.
