The goal of my research project is to develop magnetic microfiber actuators for microfluidic applications. For my Doctoral research, I worked on position sensing and control of magnetic fibers. During this time, I performed the following tasks,• Implemented high bandwidth optical sensor for microfiber position measurement.• Designed and implemented gain scheduled PID controller for position control of magnetic microfibers using frequency domain design techniques. • Designed and implemented parameter adaptation law for gain scheduled PID controller using Lyapunov theory.• Designed and implemented adaptive observer and parameter estimator for magnetic microfiber using Lyapunov theory.
Research Assistant
The goal of my research project is to develop magnetic microfiber actuators for microfluidics applications. For my MS thesis research, I worked on position sensing and dynamic modeling of magnetic fibers. During this time, I performed the following tasks,• Designed and implemented computer vision system using Matlab’s Image Acquisition Toolbox and Image Processing Toolbox for fiber shape estimation and tip tracking. • Used Matlab and the computer vision system designed for shape tracking to characterize mechanical and magnetic properties of microfibers.• Set up close loop system for real time control of magnetic microfiber actuators using Matlab, Simulink and xPC target.

I was involved with DCS system design, implementation and testing for various process control projects. As a part of my work, I performed the following functions:• Designed DCS cabinets and implemented simple and complex control schemes for various projects. Worked in project teams of up to 10 people. Performed factory testing with representatives from customers.• Control schemes implemented and tested include: fuel air ratio control, motor controls, temperature flow decoupling, pH control, multivariable drum level control and various other complex controls.
