Project: Microbial Fuel Cells - To study the nano-scale conductance properties of S.oneidensis MR-1. Mentor: Dr. Scott CrittendenMaintained S.oneidensis cell cultures (obtained as freeze dried sample from ATCC), determined its growth characteristics and optimizing its growth in M1 minimal media enabling it to form nano-wires on its surface, all using Aseptic Microbiology lab practices.Helped set-up a new lab and was in-charge of Procurement responsibilities for lab equipments and instruments ranging from Lab Gloves to Rotary driers and Incubators.Established Lab Safety protocols and managed the research group's requirements.

Thesis: "In-Vitro screening of plants for possible anti-microbial activity".Extracted organic components from 5 indigenous plants using standard extraction procedures and tested for the presence of a particular compound, known for similar anti-microbial activity in other closely related plant species, using various assays and techniques.Tested the potency of the compound, using Disc Diffusion assay, for activity against human pathogens like P.Aerugenosa, S.Flexineri, E.Coli etc.Purified and isolated the compound, if present, for further investigation.
