After more than 20 years running my own group of companies and selling out in my early fifties, I spent a short time as CEO of an international charity and since then have been a freelance business development and management consultant, commercial mediator, post-graduate lecturer and writer. I have strong marketing, business development, leadership and management credentials, in-depth financial management skills, and a firm understanding of corporate governance and the rights and duties of directors.I hold the internationally recognised Graduate Diploma in Marketing and the degree of Master of Business Administration from Durham University Business School, in which I graduated in 1997 with distinction and academic prize for best dissertation on Human Resource Management in the SME. I am also vocationally qualified to Level 4 in Human Resource Development and Learning Development; to Level 3 in Training & Development and I hold a Further & Adult Education Teacher's Certificate.I gained Fellowship of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing for my research into network relationships in the SME, and was one of the first professional marketers to receive individual Chartered Marketer status in 1998 following the Chartered Institute of Marketing being granted the power to confer that status by the Queen's Privy Council. I am also a CEDR accredited mediator for alternative dispute resolution and a certified business process analyst.As an associate at Durham University Business School Small Business Unit for 5 years, I advised on SME development programmes, management competence frameworks and commercialising academic innovation.I am the author of a book on Service-Ability published by John Wiley & Son in November 2012.Specialties: I am available for consultancy assignments, non-executive directorships, business mentoring, training assignments, speaking engagements, and chair and trustee positions.
