Combining my knowledge of infectious disease surveillance and public health IT to improve infectious disease surveillance technologies and processes within the city.

Re-assigned to the COVID-19 Response to assist in data collection, management, and analysis for the City of San Antonio's Emergency Response. Responsibilities include aiding and advising the City through Database Management systems, managing a Data Team of 50, and coordinating across different teams to ensure communication and uniformity across data collection.

Works with a broad range of data to analyze chronic health outcomes in my community, and anything that could contribute to those health outcomes (hint: almost everything!). Focus areas include asthma burden, maternal and child health, family violence, and environmental health in San Antonio.

I am working with faculty in the Environmental Health Department of BUSPH to analyze urban zoonotic disease transmission to Boston's Homeless Population as well as conducting research on urban pest control policies around the United States.

I spent the summer of 2018 organizing and analyzing results from a clinical trial which aimed at reducing health disparities for minority women. I cleaned datasets and conducted analyses utilizing the software, R.

Worked in the Entomology Department of Virginia Tech with honey bees (Apis mellifera). During my time I became well acquainted with molecular analysis techniques including RNA and DNA extraction, performing PCR and gel electrophoresis, as well as running biochemical assays. My work included analyzing the effect of pesticides on virus levels (Blacked Queen Cell virus and Deformed Wing virus) in honey bees, as well as the effect of pesticides on honey bee macronutrient levels.

I worked in a Soil-Microbial Ecology and Biogeochemistry lab. My main responsibilities included extracting DNA from soil samples, performing PCR and examining results via gel electrophoresis. I have also become acquainted with soil sampling practices.
