Work as a part of a team of consultants to coordinate planning and development of public library services, including coordination and delivery of the annual Summer Reading Program, development of policies and procedures for public libraries, social media and technology best practices for the state of Tennessee.Responsible for holding state wide summer reading training, ordering materials and distributing supplies and creating a Libguide for summer reading. This year we held two day-long trainings for over 320 librarians. We had more attendees at this training than the annual Tennessee Library Association conference. Transformed the state library continuing education program. We are now creating a state wide competency based training program for all library staff with assessment, training, and measurement protocols. This training plan will be on a five year cycle and will work with local libraries to ensure that all library staff has the skills to do their job. Launched Versal an online course creation tool. This ability is a first for the state and will allow us to expand the depth of course content for our libraries. Create, facilitate and evaluate state wide assessment including surveys, focus groups and outcome tracking for summer reading. Oversee the Public Library Management Program, a 3 year certification and training program for library directors who do not have their MLS. The highlight of the program is a week-long intensive retreat called the Public Library Management Institute. I am responsible for developing curriculum, securing speakers, managing the week-long event, and communicating with participants. Created a secondary leadership school for assistant library directors who want to become library directors called the Emerging Leaders Academy. It is a four day program that ends in certification and is open to all assistant library directors across the state.
