The mission of the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) is to support visionary, action-oriented, and diverse leadership for a just and sustainable future. ELP aims to catalyze change by providing emerging leaders with the support and guidance they need to launch new endeavors, achieve new successes, and rise to new leadership positions. Since 2000 we have created a dynamic network of 700 of the country’s top emerging environmental and social change leaders.

Lead, collaborated with, and supported cross-functional teams to develop strategies and programs to optimize the County's application of sustainability principles to its operations. Engaged residents, businesses and non-profits as partners in building a sustainable community through outreach, education, and collaborative projects. Initiatives addressed energy efficiency in affordable housing, community solar, developing a greenhouse gas inventory, writing a climate action plan, and incorporating green building practices into capital projects.

Worked within the Sustainability Services Group to manage multi-sector consulting projects from the proposal development phase through building occupancy and achievement of green certification. Responsibilities included fostering client relationships; meeting utilization, revenue, and gross margin goals; reviewing technical design and construction documents; developing and delivering presentations; tracking, navigating, and reporting on the continuing evolution of municipal and national green construction codes and green building certification programs such as LEED.

LEED, Materials, & Health: Coordinated three million dollar grant project to encourage market transformation in the building materials industry. Worked with team of sub-grantees, university partners, and cross-functional staff to support research, develop new tools, and engage stakeholders.Demand Response Partnership Program: Designed and directed program bringing together utilities, service providers, commercial building owners, and researchers to better connect the building and energy communities and increase participation in demand response. Secured & administered $550,000 in funding. Managed team of clients, consultants, researchers, and cross-functional staff. Findings from the program pushed USGBC toward a deeper commitment to the issue of sustainable electricity generation & delivery.PEER Rating System for Sustainable Electricity Delivery: Cultivated relationship, over the course of three years, with the developers of PEER. Provided guidance, shared lessons learned from LEED, and connected potential collaborators. Managed integration of PEER rating system products and staff into USGBC’s organizational structure. Served as key member of the strategy team for program design, technical development, and market reach.Green Buildings and Worker Safety: Cultivated and steered relationship with the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety, resulting in a new LEED pilot credit, an educational series, and a presentation at the largest green building conference in the world.Green Building Codes & Standards: Served on the DC Construction Codes Coordinating Board Green Technical Advisory Group to guide the development of the DC Green Construction Code which went into effect in March 2014.LEED Volume Pilot Program: Managed multi-national corporate accounts. Tracked and reported program revenue and evaluation metrics. Coordinated program team.LEED v4 Rating System Development: Advised on the development of LEED v4 credits and reference guides.

Facilitated commercial, academic, and government clients through LEED green building certification. Managed client relationships, led charrettes, reviewed design and construction documents, researched best practices, completed certification documentation, and provided staff/client training. Achieved more than 20 LEED certifications, across multiple rating systems, from certified to platinum levels.
