Responsible for launching, establishing and facilitating a network of schools that will learn and utilize Continuous Improvement practices to improve the on-track rates for eighth-grade students at City Year sites. This position has direct insight on key levers for the success of this project and its potential for scale. In close partnership with the local City Year site leaders and District Stakeholders, the MD develops viable impact business for the site by engaging district leaders and Principals in City Year’s emerging continuous improvement services. Key responsibilities include recruiting and selecting school partners, relationship management with each school, facilitation, and coaching school leadership teams, training teams (both CY Staff members and School Staff) in continuous improvement methods and assisting school teams in utilizing those practices to shift the school’s on-track rate for eighth-grade students, as well as the general management of the local network.

Collaborated with various Content Designers to ensure quality, relevance, and preparedness of sessions. Served as a tutor, mentor, and role model in an urban public school providing whole class support and individualized ELA interventions in a fourth grade class assisting teacher in classwork instruction and behavior management. Created and facilitated enrichment and social justice lesson plans and provided homework help during our after school program. Served on the Alumni Engagement team alongside a group of fellow Corps Members to engage alumni and connect the current corps to the alumni community.

Worked on a team of graduate and undergraduate students to create and present a curriculum on Media Literacy for a 6th grade class in Deerfield, MA. Assigned and checked weekly homework assignments and one final project creating a PSA intended to teach other children about one of the topics covered. Topics taught: the ratings system, high risk factors of media violence, gender representation in media, and cyber bullying.
