I learned about attitude, accountability and leadership in the Army. Flew around in helicopters and did cool spy stuff. No, really. I built tech. for governments (sometimes ours) to manage planes or track down criminals; for bankers to lend and manage zillions of dollars; and consumer online services to capture your attention - (and your money.)I taught big-data to the IRS (sorry!); designed an email service you and a million of your friends used every day; and was one of the crew who brought automated underwriting to the mortgage industry - If you have a loan, chances are we approved it, priced it and bought it. Found a suit and tie, took a big time corporate job in the House that Jack (Welch) built. Learned about leading at scale! Got a black belt (not the judo kind) and a promotion to the C— suite. Grew a top 5 insurance player through M&A, consolidation and integration. Lots of it. Left the big Fortune-5 to IPO with an internet startup. Remember DSL, hi speed internet and all that? That was us. Learned about rapid customer acquisition and starting from zero. Whew!Took some time off. Got married. Then, teamed up with the smartest guys in the room and built a 6 billion dollar mortgage lender. We grew from an idea to a top-10 national lender. A long way from flying around in helicopters!I know about growth and tech. and ops. I know real estate, lending, insurance and finance. I know big company scale, and starting from nothing.
