I am a Certified Executive and Leadership Coach with 32 years of experience developing leaders in a variety of settings, industries and countries. I support underrepresented minorities in identifying, developing, deploying and leveraging their strengths to maximize their performance and achieve success.My Why?My passion for working in this area is based on my lived experience as a professional man of color who had to navigate several corporate and organizational settings with little knowledge or outside assistance. Much of the help I received along the way fell short in its effectiveness because it failed to recognize and address my entire being. My racial identity, concerns and realities as a man of color were either ignored or inadequately addressed. When situations of diversity, equity and inclusion arose, I often experienced the awkwardness and sensed the discomfort of those around me in dealing with them. Therefore, areas critical to my professional development were either totally ignored or minimized in favor of areas deemed “safer” and more comfortable. Inattentiveness to these areas led to temporary setbacks in my development, advancement and success. Though these shortcomings were eventually overcome, the time, energy and other resources expended in doing so could have been better utilized in maximizing my potential and achieving my goals. Therefore, my desire for my clients is to be to them the coach I never had, or wished I had, at critical stages of my professional development. As such, I challenge underrepresented minorities not only to own and celebrate their various identities, but to see them as integral parts of who they are, and understand the critical roles they play in their own development and eventual success.
