Plan and develop an autonomous system using deep learning to detect Stony Coral Lesion Disease (STLD) in Florida Bay.

Prototyped an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) to count and measure fish species in the Great Barrier Reef for the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences (AIMS).- Wrote all robotics and supporting software from scratch in python from papers and published algorithms.- Achieved a 70% weight reduction, 95% cost reduction and increased prototyping speed in comparison to previous hull construction.Technical specifics:- Trained a neural network to recognize and count the number of each species of a fish in images. Can distinguish between 127 different species.- Combined a neural network for visual segmentation and depth estimation of ocean water and marine objects to process an RGB video into LIDAR.- Applied the extended Kalman filter for GPS and IMU localization- Applied the extremely efficient Dijkstra search pattern to find the shortest distance between two points in less than 30ms on the Nvidia Jetson Nano.- Applied linear quadratic regulator steering control to dynamically adjust motor output to keep ASV on defined path.
