Head of proactive Economic Crime Unit, Regional Development OfficerAt the YHROCU I have demonstrated a fervency to embrace new tactics and integrate them within economic crime investigations. This appetite for pushing boundaries has resulted in OCG disruption and the development of national good practice for dealing with fraud and money laundering. I have created safeguarding infrastructure at regional level which is now replicated countrywide. I am SIO for several proactive investigations and provide SME advice to senior investigators within local forces.As the regional development officer, I have a good understanding of National strategy and responsibility for delivery at regional level, representing both the YHROCU and local forces at a national level with key LEA, public and private partners, outlining their requirements and reporting delivery against objectives. I act as a conduit between the national lead force and local policing to ensure consistency in delivery of projects and key messaging to educate the public and reduce criminality.

Head of Economic Crime, comprising Major Fraud investigation and Financial Investigation for North Yorkshire Police. I lead a team of 28 officers involved in the investigation of complex multi million pound fraud, corruption and abuse of position cases. Oversight of all financial elements of criminal investigation throughout the North Yorkshire area, in particular Proceeds of Crime work and Anti Money Laundering investigations. Responsibility for leading North Yorkshire police’s public education work to reduce the number of victims of fraud, with a strong track record of safe guarding work. Member of National Fraud PURSUE working group, advising on policy design for the investigation of Economic Crime, reporting to the Home Office. Strand lead for partnership working with National Victims of Fraud working group. Responsible for policy design recommendations, reporting to Home Office and HMIC.

Worked as a member of a Senior Management Project Team, responsible for the design and implementation of North Yorkshire Police Investigation hubs. We oversaw a force wide restructure project, redesigning the way 80% of crime is investigated. I had responsibility for consultation, internal and external stakeholder engagement, process design, HR management, IT design and training of volume crime investigation teams throughout North Yorkshire. This work was completed against a background of unprecedented financial constraints within the Police service.
