My thesis work has focused on simulating and improving light transfer in microalgae cultivation systems, or "photobioreactors", to sustainably produce biomass for value-added products such as biofuels, supplements, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics by: -developing strategies to improve light distribution in outdoor photobioreactors- simulating light transfer in covered photobioreactors and assessing the impact of condensate droplets on biomass productivity- experimental measurement and prediction of microalgae radiation characteristics with an emphasis on the impact of colony formation on light absorption

Collaborated as a team to develop a sophisticated MATLAB model of a reactor subjected to concentrated solar power, conducted, documented, and summarized experiments and reactor trials, modeled and fabricated reactor components.

Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Worked at the Processes, Materials, and Solar Energy Lab (PROMES) to develop a working model of the chemical, fluid, and heat transfer phenomena of a solar-heated tubular receiver and reactor that uses a dense particle suspension as a heat transfer fluid. This technology was developed as part of the SOLPART project and has potential applications in power generation and industrial processes.

Completed redesign and failure analysis of diesel engine mounts using Solidworks Simulation, preliminary development of solar panel program to track the sun using LabVIEW software.

During my work at the University's Student Union, I focused on developing my leadership and decision making skills through the management of up to 5 members of student staff and 202,000 square feet of building space.

My experience as a Peer Tutor allows me to practice using effective communication to explain complex engineering related concepts. It also affords me the chance to cultivate lasting relationships with coworkers and tutees to create a more welcoming atmosphere.
