Self-funded sabbatical to explore disruptive ideas in tech, entrepreneurship, productivity, and eudaemonia- Prototyped highly-customizable, multi-period planner and time tracker supporting nested and recurring tasks, per-period time budgets, and Gaant dependencies using NextJS, Cloud Firestore, Tailwind, and Ionic- Leveraged learnings from prototyping to roughly design and architect next-gen, multi-platform, wellness-focused, productivity assistant and hub- Building a framework for offline-first, collaborative apps that handle conflicts gracefully from a business (e.g. user) perspective, and are easily built, understood, and operated by few engineers; using utility computing and borrowing ideas from domain-driven design (DDD) and event sourcing (ES), conflict-free replicated data types (CRDTs), reactive programming, and a smattering of other concepts

- Backend engineer on the Job Platform team, which is responsible for high-level services on top of FaaS to enable periodic (cron) execution, future execution, Kafka integration for batch processing, and workflow definition and orchestration.- Developed deep expertise across diverse areas of the platform: custom function runtimes, search, FaaS compute platforms, CI/CD for FaaS, function concurrency regulation/performance- Recognized as strong, thoughtful interviewer and mentor- Created Spinnaker plugin for CI/CD to our platform and helped refine general Qualtrics strategy for Spinnaker adoption across all deployment targets- Significant contributions to architectural paradigm behind the addition of our second FaaS compute offering (AWS Lambda); design/implementation of control plane and runtime layers; led the stretch from POC to general availability- Defined quarterly team-level Site Reliability program, which has caught 8+ scale/stress-related issues that could easily have caused major incidents; bootstrapped program over 3 quarters which team has now kept up for almost 4 years and counting- Improved most important performance metric (execution latency) of most mission-critical service by 10x+ and laid plans to improve it by another order of magnitude via architectural changes (immediately prior to layoff)

- Full-stack engineer on the Workflows and Integrations team which was responsible for the product area enabling semi- to non-technical users to create custom integrations with external software and/or other Qualtrics features- Created MVP of shimmable REST connector, enabling dramatically quicker addition of new user-friendly integrations with third party software

- Member of Engineering Services team responsible for most aspects of bespoke customer-funded software projects augmenting core Qualtrics products: assisting in sales calls; scoping and writing SOWs; designing, coding, and maintaining the software projects; and providing customer support for the project portfolio- Led completion of several projects and made significant contributions to many projects in first year, continued to build and maintain extensive software portfolio earning $400K+ of ARR.- Designed and built dynamic expression-based data processing engine in PHP/MySQL reused in three mid-sized projects- Authored a unique JSON persistence REST API in Scala/Neo4j for agile data models with rich relationships

- Worked on mathematical estimation technique in MATLAB to improve rho hedge with respect to recent market movements- Determined effect of a bug on delta for a variable annuities hedge- Created a tool in C# used to validate a new scenario set generator based on a new model- Wrote a tool in C# and with the Bloomberg API to load market data and back test hypothetical portfolios visually- Ported over 7,000 lines of VBA code to C# and integrated it with existing code base
