I am an early career researcher and lecturer, an experienced solicitor with a specialisation in intellectual property litigation, an experienced information and knowledge manager, and an experienced organisational leader. I am currently in the final stage of my PhD at UTS as a Quentin Bryce Scholar. After many years in practice and in management roles in commercial law firms, I am pursuing an academic career in law in order to contribute more broadly to a fair and just society. I am a professional, who is passionate about the digital transformation of the world, particularly the legal world. I am:• a lecturer and online educator; • an experienced information and knowledge leader; • a highly effective team leader and manager; • a business systems' designer and implementer; • a curious and creative thinker;• a former lawyer with nearly 10 years of legal practice.I have:* lead an organisation in its KM journey from a relatively new function, to a critical and embedded part of the organisation; * designed and implemented information systems and business processes in law firms including the user experience (UX) and information architecture; and * led and managed cross-functional teams in projects across the full gamut of knowledge and learning programs, including systems implementation, organisational cultural change, content development and management, and formal and informal learning programs. I have a very deep understanding of what lawyers do, how they like to work and what they need. Not only have I practiced as one, but I have designed systems for them, and, as Head of Knowledge, worked across all practice groups within commercial law firms. This experience gives me a unique understanding of lawyers, and the similarities and differences in activities between the various commercial legal practices.I have extensive experience in designing and implementing solutions. When designing tools I believe that the best solutions are achieved through a combination of:*user-centred design approach - to ensure the users needs are met; *holistic systems design - ensuring solutions fit seamlessly within the broader ecology it operates in and meets the needs of the business for maintainability, efficiency, security etc; and*open, collaborative teams.
