All of my life I have been told that I am a Jack-of-All-Trades, not excelling at any one skill or discipline. This is untrue. Rather, I am a Swiss Army Knife. I have defined skills which when used together make me a highly valuable employee that can tackle your most complex business challenges. If that sounds like someone that you could use on your team, read further. Mechanical Expertise: As a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at N.C. State University, I am becoming more knowledgeable about everything mechanical daily. This includes solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and much more. Ask me about what I’m learning in class! Financial Expertise: Not only am I studying Mechanical Engineering while at N.C. State University, I am also working toward my B.S. in Economics. Beyond the classroom, I have a significant interest in finance, and am a self-taught options investor. This is an invaluable skillset which can be utilized within any career path, and I look forward to continuing my education on financial matters.Work Experience & Ethic: Since getting my driver’s license, I have always had a job. Between self-employment, minimum wage service jobs, and technical internships, I have logged over 3000 working hours in my life. Two specific employment opportunities which have been particularly impactful were my internship with Newport News Shipbuilding, and my internship with Stewart Engineers. These experiences prepared me for life after my education, and have taught me arguably more than all of my schooling combined. Specific Software Skills: Through my time at school & at work, I have gained significant experience with many useful software programs. These include Solidworks, Fusion 360, Creo, DraftSight, MATLAB, Stata, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, and Adobe Illustrator. These are tools which I have utilized in applied scenarios, and can bring with me wherever I go.Communication: None of the aforementioned qualifications mean anything for overall value addition if the work/information cannot be communicated. This is why I have put an emphasis on my ability to convey information, in both formal and informal scenarios, verbally or via writing. I have taken classes which have honed my technical writing abilities, such as ‘Communication for Engineering and Technology’. I also was one of less than 5 students in my High School class of 250+ to earn my AP Capstone Diploma, meaning I conducted my own academic study, wrote a technical report on the study, presented it to a review board, and orally defended my work.
