Beginning in March of 2021, I have had the distinct honor of interning at US Senator Thom Tillis's state office in Greenville, NC. In my time here, I have been able to fully witness the role of a state level office through shadowing the Regional Representative as well as assisting casework staff via handling official correspondence and researching solutions to help constituents.

After being elected to this position by my fellow Representatives in the Student Government, I represented the legislative body and process of SGA while handling internal matters. Traditionally, this includes chairing and setting the agenda for the weekly assembly meeting of around 50 individuals. It was part of my duty to prepare meeting documents as well including a formal weekly presentation and any necessary handouts. Additionally, I acted in an administrative role for the organization handling internal conflicts, acting as the interim director for marketing and communications for several weeks, and representing the assembly members in official meetings with ECU administration and conferences across North Carolina. Furthermore, I took on the unique challenge of ensuring the safe and gradual transition from being virtual to being in-person because of the pandemic. To accomplish this, I created a hybrid method that established a physical, in-person presence for members who could only participate in a virtual capacity for various reasons. As I formally chaired the meetings utilizing Robert's Rules, I felt as if this allowed for a balanced and fair experience for those online.

Traditionally, the Director of University Affairs will handle all SGA related initiatives that do not fall within the purview of the other seven committees. However, through my time in this role, I advocated for on-campus active shooter training to be more accessible and comprehensive for the student population. Additionally, I researched and worked tirelessly towards a potential partnership between ECU and the third-party rideshare company Lyft.

As the Raleigh branch of Century Fasteners geared up for an extensive office renovation, I was hired primarily to relocate and reconnect all employees' computer setups in a temporary office workspace. Additionally though, I sorted all technology that was not being used while seeing to the safe destruction of all sensitive information stored on outdated devices. Lastly, I filed and archived all business documents related to the 2020 and 2021 years.

When no senator in Georgia reached a plurality of votes, I joined the team in Athens, Georgia to help Incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler win their runoff elections.
