With 25 years of running TMRC/Narrative Acuity in China and SE Asia, I am one of the most experienced insights & brand communication specialist in the world's most challenging market environments.I founded TMRC in Shanghai in 1998. Native fluent in Chinese, I was the first foreign qualitative researcher to conduct FGDs and deep psychological interviews all across China. In '98 I started with agricultural research for Dupont and automotive research and strategy development for GM's Buick launch in China. TMRC became a preferred China insights partner for global brands operating in China, from Coca-Cola to Unilever, as well as emerging Chinese conglomerates. Coverage expanded to India, Indonesia, the US and European markets. A specialization in cutting-edge psychological insights techniques also led to professional relationships with US and Chinese universities. Today we are a pioneer in the use of Narrative Psychology in insights and brand communication. My "Brand & Consumer Psychology Masterclass" is available on leading e-learning platforms.On the creative side a screenwriter/director, I wrote the Chinese-language web-series ‘Men, Impossible’ with a female rights angle on so-called 'left-over women' in 2014. It gained 12+ million views within a day on iqiyi.com before being removed by censors for being ‘socially disruptive’ (...it had clearly left an impact). I have been creating short films and webseries that focus on social and individual tensions in times of transformation, numerous mini-documentaries and branded dramas for various brands. A recent short documentary on a traditional glass artist in the Black Forest, 'The Useless Glassblower', won international awards, as did several music videos.
