Human biomonitoring (HBM) is the ideal tool to reliably determine our body burden to various occupational and environmental chemicals. Me and my group are on the continuous quest to develop new biomarkers and new biomonitoring methods for emerging chemicals of concern (especially suspected endocrine disruptors), like phthalates, plasticizer substitutes, bisphenols, UV-filters (e.g. Octisalate), nonylphenol, parabens, neonicotinoides, glyphosate/AMPA...and what may come in the future ......I try to promote these ideas both at my work here at the HBM labs of the Institute for Prevention and Occupational Medicine at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, and in my various involvements e.g. at the HBM Commission of the German Environment Agency, being co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health, or my involvement e.g. with the Asian Biospecimen Collection trying to support and harmonize HBM in Asian countries.
