This course examines two of these interrelated issues: Migration & Identity Politics. We are in Paris, France. Therefore, we will focus on exploring how migratory patterns affect France’s domestic as well as foreign policies. In particular, we will analyze how France adapts to the idea of a “common European identity” in times of increasing migration within & into Europe. At the same time, we will analyze broader patterns in the world’s demographic development: We want to answer questions like: How and why does the distribution of the world’s population change?
