Recruited by a Cisco SVP to change the devisive culture of an acquistion enitity that had a valuable product to enable Cisco to enter the high end of the telco InterNet Switching Business. Manage 300 design engineers building real time switching and network management software for this high availability application.As the Senior Director of Engineering, I was responsible for the design, implementation and on going support for a high-end multi-service switching platforms (ATM, Frame Relay & MPLS/IP) for the IXC's, the ILEC's and the ISPs around the Globe. • Delivered a Next Generation Product Line of CISCO designs (MGX’s) that were formerly provided by the acquisition entity (BPX’s). This next generation delivery included Switching Nodes and Network Management.• Re-established credibility of business unit with account teams and customers by delivering major product release bundles with associated Network Management on time and with high quality.

IT leadership of development & support for 3000+ R&D engineers in Colorado and New Jersey for software development environment for all Lucent’s Partner Key Systems, Definity PBX’s, Audix Voice Mail and Definity Call Centers systems. Significant initiatives were:• Improved manufactured of Definity Product Line Software Releases supporting $1B yearly Revenue Stream.Led a technology break-through team of 150 multidiscipline engineers and marketers.• Implemented and delivered an IP based, full-featured Multimedia PBX Server (know as MMCX) using PC's and Unix Work stations as end points and LAN infrastructures for intra-premises traffic and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). MMCX was a Market leading product that achieved a number of Industry firsts including making Lucent the leader in H.323 protocol standards. Developed variety of other IP building blocks from this product including VoIP Toll By-pass Gateway.

Starting from scratch (no resources, facilities or staff), created new design work environment in rented facility, formulated new design processes and hired staff to form a high performance design team of 90 hardware and software designers. The organization was the center of new AT&T start-up venture unit, called CellRelay, set up as a product realization entity with P&L responsibility reporting directly to a Board of Directors (VP’s from different AT&T business units).
