After my internship there, I was offered a job with Retailworks. Because the firm is small, I am usually able to work a project from the initial meeting with the client(s); through schematic design (picking colors, finishes, fixtures, etc.) and presentation to the client(s); to creation of specification schedules and working with vendors; and consulting with the contractors on the final installation in the space. I have worked on several co-op groceries, boutique shops, jewelry stores, and food service spaces.In addition to interior design work, retail spaces generally require signage and other graphic elements. I design logos, signs, sign placement, and other graphics as needed. I can easily work with sign companies as my background in graphic design makes me able to "speak their language."Another service Retailworks provides is visual merchandising, and I participate in these endeavors as well. I have created window displays, displays for small tower cases, and other focal point and endcap merchandising.

As a fine artist, I have shown my work in galleries, traveling shows, and created commissioned sculptures, mosaics, and beadwork. I work in a wide variety of media, and my subject matter usually touches on mythology in some way. I also do beadwork embroidery, a painstaking, but rewarding process.

As a freelance graphic designer, I work one-on-one with clients to produce a variety of brochures, posters, postcards, websites, logos, illustrations, PowerPoint presentations, television commercial storyboards and many other projects. Can work on tight deadlines.

Helped to plan and implement ASID/IIDA Career Day in Madison, WI. Created wallpaper sample portfolios as sustainable giveaways, helped plan and implement the lunchtime art activity, and did jobs as needed the day of the event. Created the graphic design for the program including posters, invitations, signage, and a business card-sized jump drive. (4 years)Helped implement the Autumn Emporium, an arts and crafts show to benefit student scholarships, at first by being a student volunteer, and then on the planning committee. On the committee, I created the posters, call to artists, invitations, and other collateral materials, as well as helping to contact artists who might display their wares at the event. (4 years)

I worked from home to produce original graphic design pieces for customers when needed. Have designed logos and a wide variety of printed pieces, including most of the design work for the Charles Allis Art Museum and Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum. Initially, I worked in-house, preparing digital files for print, and checking all graphics, fonts, etc for quality control standards on press. Output digital match print proofs for client review. Output and check film for printing.

Taught yoga, or a class called "Body Movement" at the Southside Branch of the YMCA Milwaukee for several years. I dearly loved teaching it and watching my students get better at yoga than I am. Rewarding and fulfilling.
