I believe that where we live is essential to our happiness and well-being as humans. As an architect, I am passionate about housing. I feel a fundamental link to my community and a need to impact the housing crisis that affects every person living in the Bay Area. I help create spaces that provide shelter at the most basic level and aspire to connect and inspire at their very best. I am interested in collaborating on housing at all levels for all people, from high-end luxury multifamily developments to housing for those experiencing homelessness. Like the Housing Action Coalition mantra, I believe that more housing at all levels ultimately benefits us all. I am interested in ways that we, as architects and designers, can impact the cost of building. In 2019 I spoke at the AIA National Convention, presenting a panel discussion titled " The Housing Crisis, How Architects Can Drive Change." The presentation's objective was to provide a basic understanding of the total cost of a project and how we, as designers, developers, and builders, can approach budgets by looking for cost-saving measures in the areas that can have the most significant impact. This panel examined off-site fabrication as one strategy to reduce the overall construction schedule. This study found that a reduction in construction schedule for a project in the Bay Area has the greatest potential for overall project savings. Designing and building projects that shape the skylines of our cities is a constant thrill. Building housing that elevates the human spirit is a joy and an honor.
