I have recently taken on the role of laboratory technician at Edith Cowan University.Until June 2024, I was an organic chemist and NATA signatory at ALS Environmental, a leading provider of environmental testing and analytical services (ISO/IEC 17025). I worked in the Organics section since Oct 2021, conducting analyses adapted for purge and trap gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to evaluate a range of different organic compounds across a range of different industries, such as mining, oil and gas, and environmental consulting.With the help of my colleagues and clients, I have successfully delivered accurate and timely results for complex and time-sensitive projects, such as assessing the impact of contaminated sites. I have also contributed to the development and validation of new methods and protocols to improve the efficiency and quality of the analyses.Before joining the volatiles section, I previously specialised in semi-volatiles, where I used gas chromatography-flame ionisation detection [GC-FID] to quantify total recoverable and total petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and water samples and performed speciation or silica gel clean-up procedures as needed. I have developed strong skills in target analyte recovery, quantitation, and reporting, as well as instrument verification, maintenance, and diagnostics.I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Applied Chemistry from Edith Cowan University in 2020, where I received the Rowe Scientific Prize in Chemistry and a Letter of Commendation for graduating within the top 15th percentile of undergraduates. I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems and support environmental sustainability. I value quality, accuracy, and efficiency in my work, and I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues and clients to achieve production targets and meet their analytical needs.
