As the manager of this fast-paced, high-volume tourist hot-spot in downtown Denver,I worked to portray a culture and brand of professionalism in an environment of entertainment and high-quality food and beverage. Over my tenure at Appaloosa Grill I have worked every position needed, as well as helped to grow the public relations scope through press releases and media involvement, along with facilitating team leadership meetings and training.

As the editor-in-chief of the Denver-based media organization, I helped to re-define LGBT media in Colorado.I was implemental in re-branding both the print and online editions of this 38-year-old organization to bring the company up-to-date in a fast-paced and constantly evolving media culture. As the editor and manager in charge of overseeing content and artistic direction, I helped make the company more visible to a larger portion of the community through organizing reader focus groups, public relations outreach and amping up the social media presence. The company Facebook likes jumped from 1,000 to more than 6,000, with a consistent 40 percent reader engagement on social media, email newsletters and in the online edition. I worked to create and oversee weekly email blasts, online events, scheduled Facebook posts, tweets of live events and directed live reporting and journalistic coverage in political and entertainment-driven events. I also worked closely with the sales and marketing team to help advertisers see value in the editorial content and helped them develop creative ways to engage with readers. I also managed a team of 20 writers and freelancers, as well as a team of interns on a daily basis. I was in charge of directing political and social coverage; I was also in charge of weekly and monthly editorial meetings and had to work under the constraints of a pre-approved editorial budget. I worked closely with all of my writers and contributors to make sure their stories and editorials were constantly evolving and engaging the audience.

At Weird Sisters West I quickly moved from intern while I was in college to becoming the Denver Editor after graduation. I helped bring the publication to Denver (as it was mainly a Fort Collins pub at the time I started). I worked with the art director and helped create and design each issue from the editorial to layout. I also helped to find advertisers and talked with local businesses to engage with different cultures around the Denver area.
