Undertake special projects assigned by company CEO or department director. Served on Southern Company Employees Political Action Committee Board of Directors (2010-2012).

In addition to the responsibilities of Regulatory Affairs Manager:Oversee state regulatory and legislative affairs for SouthernLINC Wireless. Craft state legislative and regulatory strategies for 4-state territory that encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Analyze pending legislation. Prepare amendment language and talking points. Direct efforts of outside lobbyists. Monitor state regulatory commissions for matters affecting company and engage in written or in-person ex parte action as needed to shape outcomes. Ensure company compliance with state regulatory requirements and FCC rules, including tracking agency action, analyzing newly issued rulings, identifying business actions needed to ensure compliance, and leading business functions in compliance activities. Develop and drive actions of industry coalitions to achieve policy goals. Manage budget for regulatory policy and legislative efforts and direct external legal counsel work. Served on Southern Company Employees Political Action Committee Board of Directors (2005-2008).

Oversee federal regulatory strategy and policy position development for SouthernLINC Wireless.Develop and communicate company positions to the Federal Communications Commission via filed pleadings and ex parte meetings to advance business objectives in rulemakings and other proceedings. Ensure company compliance with FCC rules and requirements, including tracking agency action, analyzing newly issued rulings, identifying business actions needed to ensure compliance, and leading business functions in compliance activities. Make certain that company met all compliance deadlines. Work with industry trade associations to shape association positions and advance company’s interests. Manage external legal counsel work for regulatory policy efforts.
