I am Holly, and I am a student-athlete on the Field Hockey team at UC Berkeley planning to major in Art History. I am interested in working in art because I have always been fascinated by paintings and sculptures. Ever since I was a little girl I have been intrigued by history, whether it be recent or ancient, and more specifically by the art left behind, and how it tells its own story. For me, a picture literally tells a thousand words and I want to be involved in the future of these artworks and the stories they tell to the hands they change between. I visited an auction house when I was 17 and I was instantly hooked and I knew this was a field I had to work in. The aura of seeing works by artists such as Edgar Degas and George Stubbs, without the glass of a museum, and knowing the people in front of me had a hand in its future was truly inspiring. I enjoy teamwork and have excellent time management and communication skills from being a student athlete at the highest level which I believe will help me work in a collaborative environment with colleagues and build relationships with clients. I am currently exploring career paths in fine art, specifically working in an auction house, and am committed to gaining experience in this field that can help me find work later on.
