After graduation, I began my accounting career with Ernst & Young LLP in September 2001, where I served in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services group for five years. I provided attestation and consulting services for public and privately-held companies and primarily focused on the nonprofit and employee benefit plan industries. I joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter in August 2006. I continued to provide attestation and consulting services to my clients, including AIDS Services of Austin, Whole Planet Foundation, Austin Lyric Opera, Junior League of Austin, Ballet Austin, SEMATECH, ARM, SACHEM, Inc, Arnold Oil, and Austin White Lime among others. My Industry focus was on the non-profit sector and Employee Benefit Plans.In 2011 I decided to move to industry and have loved being the Vice President of Finance & Operations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. I've been able to apply the best practices of the non-profits I audited to make BBBS a stronger agency. Serving 1000+ kids in professionally supported 1 to 1 mentoring relationships in the Central Texas area make it really easy to go into work every day. In 2012 I was elected as a Trustee to the Hays CISD School Board where I have been able to learn and serve the students, teachers and staff of my hometown. After being re-elected in 2015, I completed second three-year term in 2018. During my tenure I was the youngest person chosen to serve as Board President.In 2015 I joined Common Threads, a national non-profit based in Austin serving 118,000 students, teachers and parents, served 800k meals and snacks, and delivered 1.1M hours of cooking and nutrition classes. We were able to earn a $1M grant in 2017 allowing us to diversify revenue and scale to five more cities and adding 15 more staff. In 2017 I joined Upbring, a social service non-profit based in Austin with a $120M budget, 76 locations and 1100 staff that are working to break the cycle of child abuse. We are the largest Foster Care provider in Texas, have residential treatment centers, help unaccompanied minors, refugees and Head Start programs. In 2023 I stepped away from the CFO role to become the Chief of Community Engagement and am thrilled to take on a new challenge. Connecting people to our mission, the amazing work we do to change lives, and with the 6-years of knowledge of why we do what we do is going to a gamechanger for Upbring. In 2019, I joined the Nonprofit Austin Certificate Program, teaching sections of Financial Management and have since expanded to teach sections in the Fundraising Certificate.
