About Holly Wheeler

I am an experienced leader, proficient in organizational management, team and culture building, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, who successfully orchestrated the consolidation of two statewide nonprofit organizations to form a single new entity. I lead this multi-faceted statewide organization and cultivate strategic relationships with families, community organizations, state agencies and the federal government, while building recognition of the organization's brand and services. I am also an accomplished project manager who develops, enhances and manages new or existing programs, including budget, execution, evaluation and sustainability, and maintain or secure new funding through grant writing and reporting or corporate sponsorship. I have planned corporate and community events, such as a virtual conference to engage and educate stakeholders and a hospital grand opening.Personally, my interests are varied, from my love of exercise, especially running, swimming and group exercise, to my love of art, architecture and design. My free time is spent walking my two dogs, Marvel and Joy, and caring for my many plants. I enjoy planning family vacations for me, my husband and two daughters to bring us closer to our goal of visiting as many National Parks as we can.

  • Indiana Family To Family
    Executive Director
Indiana Family To Family Mar 2022 - Present
    Indianapolis, In
This role is the culmination of my accomplishments as the leader of Family Voices Indiana and as Interim Executive Director of INF2F. Most importantly, I have deepened my skills as a leader by shaping the new organization's culture yet remembering, and respecting, the cultures of the two legacy organizations. While my focus has turned to fundraising, grant writing and reporting, strategic planning, community awareness and engagement, and building partnerships, my team will always be my primary focus.
  • Indiana Family To Family (Family Voices Indiana)
    Interim Executive Director
Indiana Family To Family (Family Voices Indiana) Aug 2021 - Mar 2022
    Indianapolis, In
I led the integration of Family Voices Indiana with another family-led organization, along with board and leadership from both legacy organizations. This included creating mission and vision statements, identifying organizational values, creating an organizational chart and defining roles, integrating operations, establishing policies and computer systems, and merging finances. An important component of planning was the development of the INF2F brand, including the name of the new organization, creation of a logo and building a website.
  • Family Voices Indiana
    Executive Director
Family Voices Indiana Sep 2017 - Feb 2022
    Indianapolis, Indiana Area
I joined Family Voices Indiana because it brought together many of the skills I had developed in past positions. I focused on building infrastructure beginning with the board of directors. I established regular meetings times and days for the full board and all board committees, I updated board bylaws with the Governance Committee and created a dashboard that summarized our financial position and program reach. I overhauled accounting systems with a newly identified accountant and updated fiscal policies. I moved two contractors to employees and updated the employee handbook. I managed all grant writing and reporting, including securing and maintaining our federal funding. And, perhaps most importantly, I established relationships with similar organizations, explored partnership opportunities, and led the organization through a consolidation and integration, as Family Voices Indiana became Indiana Family to Family.

I engaged these stakeholders by coordinating public relations and community outreach activities, delivering presentations, overseeing media relations and advocating for public health policy. I wrote grant requests, created a strategic plan for organizational and program activities, and managed organizational communications, including the creation of communications materials, website content and displays.
