I began my animal welfare journey at a small nonprofit rescue in 2017. In 2018, I launched a mobile spay and neuter program in Asheville that served nine counties and over 13,000 animals during my tenure. In 2022, I took a position as senior manager of the ASPCA's Clinic Mentorship Program, which has allowed me to connect with and provide support to nonprofit veterinary clinics, shelters, and animal welfare groups across the country. Prior to working in animal welfare, I completed a graduate thesis examining Appalachian literature and ecofeminism while a master's student at Western Carolina University and taught English literature and composition as an adjunct instructor in Tennessee and North Carolina. I believe in helping pets by helping people and lifting entire communities.
