Supporting young or vulnerable parents by engaging them in support with the view of increasing existing skills and knowledge around child development and parenting, while highlighting the importance of their role as early educators for their children. I work as part of a team offering one to one and group support to help families in the “first 1001 days” of their children’s lives. I am part of a new, innovative edge of care service that is intended to support some of the most complex and challenging children and young people open to Child and Family Services. We support adolescents on the brink of becoming accomodated, those in care where there is a plan for rehabilitation and adolescents at the risk of escalating to a placement as a result of behaviours. I work with a caseload of adolescents who are displaying emotional and behavioural difficulties, providing them with a positive, role modelling experience.I provide activity based sessions that build on young people and their families strengths to feed into the social work assessment. Set SMART goals for adolescents who are not accessing full time education, while encouraging them to take part in activities to build self esteem, self worth and establish a transition back into education. I provide a safe and nurturing environment to support, advise and guide our young people to develop strategies to deal with unhelpful behaviour and thoughts. I am able to maintain accurate records of work undertaken with families and young people, in accordance with departmental standards and expectations.
