My dad had a direct mail business for 25 years, and I was raised in the industry. As a child, I played in his office cutting and pasting up my own ads. On Saturdays we had breakfast together and then we went on his sales appointments. I loved this time we spent together. In 2000, my career had a sharp turning point and I moved from Omaha to Cincinnati to officially work for my family business. I soon learned that my father was an incredible sales coach. We spent every day tackling objections and finding solutions. Before my father started his business, he was a trainer at the famous NCR "Sugar Camps." There could not have been a better sales trainer for me to have learned from than my dad, Frank.The technology has changed over the years, but the fundamental laws of sales and advertising that my dad taught me are still the same.
