Culture Change Works is a female-founded and female-led team of change experts with a purposeful commitment to good work. By good work, we mean creating positive and productive environments where people feel valued, engaged and empowered to do their best. In this senior leadership role, I managed a diverse team of specialists responsible for external relations, internal communications, branding and design, events and exhibitions, and graduate engagement. I deputised for the Director of Internal and External Relations. I was the department operational lead responsible for the annual operating plan; implementing short term objectives and realising long term goals. I led a major department wide restructure to re-align key areas of work and embed agile project management approaches. I managed crisis communications planning and reputation management during periods of protest and occupation at the College. I oversaw the development and delivery of the College's first online Graduate Showcase working with external partners and stakeholders across the College and University.

This interim role covered the responsibilities of the Director of Internal and External Relations during a period of maternity leave. In addition to my role as Audience Engagement Manager, I took on the leadership and management of the internal and external communications team covering press, social media, internal communications, branding and graphic design. During this time, I was responsible for a strategic review of the audience engagement, communications and digital functions within the Department which led to a major restructure.

In this newly created role, I established a small team of four responsible for developing and delivering the College’s public engagement activity. I developed and launched the College’s annual public programme working with internal and external stakeholders. Working across the four strands in the Department, I implemented project management approaches and set up new systems for stakeholder engagement and governance. I managed a strategic review of the annual degree shows, resulting in a new showcasing strategy and format for the shows. I developed the College’s visitor experience plan. As part of my University wide responsibilities, I contributed to the planning and development of corporate University events including a range of fundraising activities and the annual graduation ceremonies.

As Programme Manager, I set up and ran the postgraduate student community. I created and programmed an annual festival of events, workshops and screenings. I established a highly successful industry mentoring programme; recruiting, training and managing industry specialists to mentor postgraduate students, run talks and workshops and be active members of the wider mentor network. I was responsible for student communication including developing content and editorial plans, managing social media channels and newsletters. I also worked with a wide range of academics and the research community on talks, conferences and debates.
