HSBC BANK: CMB Marketing and propositions Europe {Dec 08 - current}PR: Responsibilities included to develop a strong and clear PR positioning for Commercial Banking (CMB) to reinforce ‘The World’s Local Bank’ proposition and to help shape PR and internal communications strategies for CMB both in the UK and for Europe to deliver transformational growth. I endeavoured to create a thought leadership PR strategy for HSBC within all European markets. As part of this I created an innovative PR “Style Guide” to be utilised by all markets, regardless of their PR capabilities. This enabled the central marketing team to lead a brand marketing strategy and share best practice across Europe. Brand: I produced various brand guidelines and toolkits, for use by all European markets. I worked alongside our creative agency to develop a new Trade and Supply Chain brochure and an International brochure. Additionally I developed numerous leaflets to allow the client swift and easy advise regarding our core products. Trade and Supply Chain: I shaped marketing activity for GTB Trade & Supply Chain for all markets. I managed the TSC strategic partnership plans to ensure HSBC involvement was consistent and measurable. As part of these plans, my role was to create an event management strategy rolling out 9 trade workshop events regionally across the UK and one large scale launch event, inviting both press contacts and prestigious corporate clients. Brand Measurement: Managed marketing expenditure in European markets effectively. Post campaign evaluations of all media, including print, digital, TVC, out of home advertising and search engine optimisation to ensure that the voice of the customer was heard.

PR: Collation and organisation of various CMB case studies to be used for PR, working with both with the business and an external PR agency, Consolidated PR. I managed local PR activities and produced a local PR leaflet to support the launch of a new Commercial centre in the North-East. This required input from a number of sources and production timescales were often very tight. Working to such tight and pressured timescales was exciting and very rewarding. I perform to the best of my ability under pressure, in an activity that stretches me and puts me out of my comfort zone. I believe this attribute to be integral when working in PR and communications. Branch/Local Marketing: Adapted national adverts for local use working with the in-house studio and also with external advertising agencies. I assisted on new International brochureware photo shoots which allowed me to utilise my creative skills and abilities. Brand: I individually managed the delivery of an internal Brand campaign in the HSBC headquarters. Liaising with other design agencies and facilities management proved that I could work with other professionals to the best of my potential, with confidence and expertise. I also worked with colleagues in Hong Kong, assisting on the delivery of a brand campaign screensaver which was rolled out globally. Event Management: I organised a PR event in Cheltenham and arranged key speakers. This resulted in some good regional PR coverage for HSBC. I assisted with on-the-day logistics at an internal event for Heads of Commercial Centres working in a pressured environment. I also worked at the CEO Roadshow ensuring that the event ran smoothly and to time.

Shadowing Peter Doyle, Head of Communications. Developing an understanding of communications, public relations and Public affairs. This was a great experience and really allowed me to cultivate my passion for political affairs.

Working alongside the Managing Director with respect to this company's client base including, operating within the following areas:-Law Society– Working up a seminar for the understanding of the new legislative capacity in Wales with target audience of Judges, Barristers, solicitors, media, Counsel General, law drafters, government Ministers, professionals from accountancy and land management and the media. Welsh Assembly- Monitoring parliamentary questions and also the meeting of elected Assembly Members, communication heads of political party's and media commentators. Police Federation- UK and Wales’s perspective on the handling of both devolved and non-devolved matters via the Home Office and Welsh Government policy. Plus the creation of new legislative routes for the Police. Public Affairs Cymru- Event designed to meet-and-greet newly elected members. Discussions with Presiding Officer, Lord Elis Thomas AM and also with lobbyists holding portfolios in health, small businesses, environment and education. BBC (Wales)– Working on live television from the BBC studios covering the 'AM-PM' political program. Looking at newspaper reviews, Prime Ministers questions, devolved Government issues and political comments. Royal Welsh Show- I met with the editor of Western Mail (Country & Farming) and attended a press conference hosted by the Country Landowners Association. Also meetings with elected members and The Royal Mail Group.
